We are excited to share our visual projection experiment with our new intern Ivan So, supporting Kimmortal and Immigrant Lessons on this excerpt of the new project X Marks the Movement as part of PuSh Internation Performing Arts Festival’s official opening party. We are very honoured to share some experimental idea with these amazing local grassroots artists, as seeds to a bigger ideas to come.
Queer Filipinx artist Kimmortal and art-fashion-dance collective Immigrant Lessons combine their respective media in selections from X Marks the Movement, a story-based show that plays with the concept of map-making in order to reframe narratives of home and diaspora. This exciting new collaboration incorporates music, art and dance directed by Kevin Fraser and Alyssa Amarshi, songs written and produced by Kimmortal and Experimental Visual Projection by Chimerik似不像, in a collective act of resistance. The story explores what it means for its characters to be in relationship with each other as diasporic artists of colour on unceded Indigenous land. Militant and musically ingratiating, this is a performance designed to move the crowd and change the conversation
Joining Kimmortal & Immigrant Lessons at the Opening Party will be The Darlings, animating the space at Beaumont Studios with pop-up performances where conceptual theatre and modern drag come together.
